Sunflower's with Erica

Hello,

Erica on the blog today with yet another flower-power card. I did kinda warn you I'd go mad with the flower and yep, I did it again. CAS cards are not my forte. Layers, masking, colouring, stamping, embellishments and die cutting, just give it to me baby!

Today I used the Beautiful Blooms Sunflower stamp and as usual, I couldn't stick to just one image.  You don't often see single sunflowers so why do a single flower on a card? Maybe I'm using this as an excuse to do more colouring...?

I started out by stamping the images on Neenah Exact Index White 110lbs card stock. Three times in fact. I got my copics out and this time I remembered to write down which colours I used. For each flower, I went for slightly different variations of yellow on the petals. Same with the leaves, only greens, I flicked them randomly all over them.

It took me nearly four full episodes of Sex and The City to fussy cut all the flowers and leaves out. In fairness, it probably wouldn't have taken me quite that long if I had just focused on the cutting and not on Carrie and co.

As it's a summery fall here (I'm not kidding, it's so sunny and warm. It's almost freaking me out how unusual this weather is) I wanted a quite natural and warm card. Kraft card seemed to be the best way to go, and I do like a black background to make flowers pop. I have some new craft stuff curtesy of my sweet husband and amongst those were the Lawn Fawn stitched squares dies which I decided to use for this card. I cut out two sizes thinking I wanted to layer them somehow, I just wasn't quite sure how yet.

After some puzzling, I had placed and glued all the bits together. Except for a sentiment. I tend to forget about a sentiment when I'm so dazzled by the flower stamps... I did have the perfect spot for it though. You know, the small square in the top corner. I picked a sentiment from the stamp set, stamped it on a small die cut label, wrapped a little bit of twine and tied a bow, added some 4mm high foam tape and stuck it on.

And could you believe it, I didn't feel the need to add sequins! What's going on?? Maybe the Indian summer is getting to me, who knows?

That's it for today, but I will be back with more flowery cards very soon.

Happy crafting!

One Layered Card - Featuring Kennedy Grace Creations: Time To Blossom

Hey folks! I'm back to share a card from the Kennedy Grace Creations New Release! The stamp set I used today is the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . I really enjoyed the simplicity of this set. You could totally heat emboss this and do some fabulous watercoloring, but Copic's seems to be the way to go for me lately so that's what I did. I started by stamping the image twice on my card panel. The only masking I did was a tiny bit on the stem. The name of the game was to keep this super simple folks. As I said, I colored the images with Copic's. Another thing I enjoy about the Time To Blossom Stamp Set is that you could choose any colors you wanted. I chose red-violets and yellow-greens, but seriously peeps, whatever floats your boat and it will looks great! To finish off my card, I used a added a couple of hand drawn lines to the background and I stamped a portion of a stamp that is also in the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . That's it! Easy peasy. T
