I'm going to dive right in and show off my cards, I made three for today's post. Two super simple cards with the exact same layout, just different colours and the little lion is coloured with copics on one and with Zig markers on the other. The third is a shaker card using the new sequin fusion called Baby Blanket. It's got beautiful soft pastel coloured sequins and clear seed beads for a bit of sparkle.

For the first two cards I started out with taping down my panels to a hard surface with masking tape. This stops the paper from warping too much when adding the water. I haven't found a single paper so far that doesn't warp at least a little bit when you add water. Or maybe I add too much water? That's something to explore another time though.

Using a big flat brush, I added water to my panels before sweeping another paint brush over it with the colour of choice. I did one with pink and the other one with blue. On the blue you might notice that there is a bit of a pattern in the blue bit. This I achieved by adding lots of colour to the panel, then very quickly laying a bit of textured kitchen roll over it and gently dabbing it to soak up the excess colour.

Putting the background to the side to let dry I focused on the cute little critters that were going to adorn my cards. I decided to do the lion for both these cards even though my husband said he didn't think it made sense for a lion to be on a baby girl card. Well, I ignored his advice and did one with no line colouring using Copics and the other one I heat embossed with white outlines (but added black for the eyes) and coloured that one in using Zig markers.

Once the panels were dry, I placed them in my MISTI and dusted them with my anti-static tool before positioning the sentiment stamps 'Congratulations, it's a Boy/Girl' on them and stamping that with VersaMark ink. I decided to go with white embossing powder to keep the look soft.

My third card I decided to do as a shaker card and this one was a bit of a labour of love! I started of by ink blending a background with hearts using pink inks and then in row after row I stamped the sentiment 'Sweet Baby' in Picked Raspberry distress ink. I also coloured in the baby giraffe with copics. I didn't bother so much with shading and highlights on this image as I already knew there was going to be so much going on detail wise on this card. Using a pretty pastel patterned paper, I cut out a card base panel as well as as a frame for my shaker compartment AND the word 'girl' using an alphabet die cut set.

To create the shaker compartment I also cut out the frame part in fun foam as well as an acetate window. Glueing all this together and assembling it was rather easy, I tend to lay everything flat and add the sequins, then glue down the window bit as it's easier to see what you are doing. So many times this part has ended up wonky for me before I started doing it like this.

The baby giraffe got added in the bottom left corner as she seemed to disappear against the busy background anywhere else. I also added the 'girl' letters close to her but it was a bit slippy gluing them down on the acetate so next time I might do this before assembling the shaker compartment.

That's it from me today but don't forget to hop along and check out all the other design team members beautiful creations! The next stop on the hop is Patricia - http://preybueno.blogspot.com.es/

One Layered Card - Featuring Kennedy Grace Creations: Time To Blossom

Hey folks! I'm back to share a card from the Kennedy Grace Creations New Release! The stamp set I used today is the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . I really enjoyed the simplicity of this set. You could totally heat emboss this and do some fabulous watercoloring, but Copic's seems to be the way to go for me lately so that's what I did. I started by stamping the image twice on my card panel. The only masking I did was a tiny bit on the stem. The name of the game was to keep this super simple folks. As I said, I colored the images with Copic's. Another thing I enjoy about the Time To Blossom Stamp Set is that you could choose any colors you wanted. I chose red-violets and yellow-greens, but seriously peeps, whatever floats your boat and it will looks great! To finish off my card, I used a added a couple of hand drawn lines to the background and I stamped a portion of a stamp that is also in the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . That's it! Easy peasy. T
