Using Complementary Colours

Hello! It's Donna . I'm back with yet another card using the Friendship Blessings stamp set. I just can't get enough of this stamp. The clean petals make it a dream to colour. I have to admit to going out and purchasing another yellow Copic marker just so I could get the shading I wanted on this image. (I know, I suffer, right?) Once I'd coloured the image in Copics, I cut it out, leaving a white border around the edge. I then used a colour wheel to work out the exact complementary colour of the yellow. It was a blue, with just a hint of red in it. I mixed this colour using my watercolours. You can see that it took two layers to get the colour exactly right - the first set of lines were slightly too blue. The yellow really pops with the complementary colour underneath, don't you think? I spattered some black paint on the background (which I die cut with a wonky stitched rectangle die) before adding the image, and then popping the sentiment up on foam tape...

Watercolored card with Beautiful Blooms - Hydrangea

Hello dear friends!  Martha Lucia  here to share with you my creation using the mood board of Kennedy Grace Creations as inspiration! I decided to use the Beautiful Blooms - Hydrangea stamp set with watercolors, one of my favorites mediums. Take a look at my card: This month the inspiration book suggested us some colors and I selected the pink and yellow and the tones in between. I stamped the beautiful hydrangea several times over a piece of watercolor paper using Versafine Onix and colored the flowers with Kuretake Gansai and aqua painters . To complement the color line I cut the sentiment using a set of hello die cuts from Technique Tuesday with the same color coordination and pasted it over the lower part of the card. This is the mood board that we used this month as inspiration and you can also use it for our creations and share it with us in our facebook group. I hope you my project inspires you and see you soon with another idea! SUPPLIES: Be...

Hydrangea shaker card

Hello everybody! It's Donna here and I'm just back from a lovely holiday on the other side of Australia visiting extended family. (As a bonus we had lovely sunny weather, so we got to be outdoors a lot!) Before I left, I had a lot of fun with the current Tic Tac Toe challenge. (Random fact: we call this game noughts and crosses here in Australia)  Here is what I created. I used the Beautiful Blooms - Hydrangea stamp set. I went diagonally down the board, and used Die Cuts, Embossing and Flowers. Also as a bonus there is some sequin action too! I used Copics to colour the lovely Hydrangea image and then cut it out right on the black outline. I used a black pen around the edges of the image to hide the white core of the card. I then used a die to cut out the window panel from both white cardstock and fun foam. I added a layer of clear plastic at the front and added sequins to each window. The sequins I used are " Dress blues ". Aren't they fab...

Watercolour Hydrangeas

Hello crafty friends! It's Donna here, and I've been playing with watercolours and the beautiful Hydrangea stamp from Kennedy Grace Creations. You may not know this, but back in the day before I had time to make cards, I was the head of the Japanese department at our local Grammar School. One of my ex students came to visit me the other day, and we got to talking about card making, and ending up having a crafty session with watercolour backgrounds.  It is so lovely to have students who see you as more than just a means to an end, as I worked very hard for my students, especially the senior students, who needed a lot of extra support. This card today uses one of the backgrounds that I made with her. I just love the loose look of watercolour that continues 'outside the lines'. The image is stamped in Versamark ink. To make the sentiment, I ran the painted panel through my die cutting machine with a happy die, being very careful to keep all the small pieces ...
Hello dear friends! Martha Lucia here with you today!  A day filled with happiness should be everyday. I am this kind of person that think that if you do what you love you are happy and I am so happy using this stamp set called Beautiful Blooms - Hydrangea from Kennedy Grace . This month the mood board of Kenny Grace Creations is plenty of inspiration, combining gold with rose red colors, It inspires me to use Metallic Gold Embossing Paste and stencil to create the background of my card. I used Spiral Petals Stencil from Hero Arts over a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and let dry very well before to paste over the whisper white card base . I stamped the  Beautiful Blooms - Hydrangea three times over watercolor paper with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with distress inks before to fussy cut them with my scissors . I used two colors of distress ink for coloring the flowers, Candied Apple and Abandoned Coral and two colors of distress ink for coloring t...

Kindness Masking Hydrangeas Card

Hello crafty friends. Meg here with a clean and simple card using the gorgeous Beautiful Blooms - Hydrangea stamp set. This card is easy to reproduce. I simply made one mask and stamped the hydragea twice in the bottom left corner of the card. I then colored with my copic markers. For the purple flowers I used BV01, BV02 and BV04. For the white clowers I used C1 and C3. All of the flower centers and leaves were colored with YG00. To finish off the card I heat embossed the sentiment from the Kindness stamp set by Winnie & Walter. I hope you like my clean and simple one layer card! Thanks for visiting! Joy Beautiful Hydrangea Blooms - Copic Coloring

Hi crafty friends, Meg here with a clean and simple Copic marker colored hydrangea card. This card was created using the Beautiful Blooms - Hydrangea clear stamp and the stacked stitched rectangle and scalloped stitched rectangle dies! I stamped the large, gorgeous hydrangea using copic friendly, Memento ink onto Neenah Paper, Classic Crest 80lb - in the color Solar White. I then colored the beautiful image using my Copic markers. For the flower centers I used YG00. The rest of the hydrangea petals were colored with BV01, BV02 and BV04. The leaves were colored with G05, YG09 and G09. I then used the second largest stitched rectangle and cut my colored panel. I cut the largest stitched scalloped rectangle from hygrangea purple, colored cardstock from my stash. Then I heat embosssed the FABULOUS sentiment, also from the hydrangea stamp set, which reads 'Take joy in the little things.' I used WOW opaque British Summer embossing powder. This is a matte, cool g...

Sending Prayers

Happy Saturday Lovelies! I changed my plan a little bit with this post, initially I thought on making a bookmark; but after listening to the story of a friend that is going through a rough time, I decided that it was better to make a card for her and sharing with all of you, specially with the ones that may need at this moment hugs and prayers, please know you are never alone! For today's card I used Beautiful Blooms Hydrangea , I started stamping my image on versamark and embossing it with white embossing powder from Hero Arts, then I colored the back of my image with tombow markers, you don't really need to be extra careful coloring with this technique since is not going to show the detail, that's why I love it! After I colored it, I fussy cut my image and attached it to my base card being careful of putting the glue only on the spots I can hide, either with an embellishments or embossed in white, then on the center of my flower I added nuvo drops in Ivory ...
