For Baby

Hi everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend full of all that you love.  I had a chance to spend some time in my craft room and had a bunch of fun creating this little shaker card using the sweet Kennedy Grace set,  Sweet Baby Mine .  Take a look - This shaker was pretty easy to make.  The little hippo colored up so easily with Copic markers.  Warm grays along with soft pinks and greens were used to color her up.  I used a specialty cardstock for this card called Stardream.  It had a beautiful soft shine to it that I wasn't able to catch in the photo.  I fashioned a layer of fun foam with a circle cut out for the shaker and attached it to the card base.  A die was used to cut the circle and frame in the top layer and glued acetate to the back side so a window that was created.  The sequins were added into the opened window and the top layer was adhered to the fun foam (that part was a little tricky, I'm not go...

A Christmas Note

It's Brenda back with another share.  Can you believe, if you celebrate Christmas, only 6 more days.  I have to admit, I still have a few cards to post tomorrow but thankfully they were all done awhile back.  I'm sharing one with you today that I made using Grace's Little Note  from the  Kennedy Grace Creations  store. Grace's Little Note For this card I used a masking technique to stamp the flowers along the diagonal and then fussy cut them along the leafy edge.  I LOVE fussy cutting and find it to be a wonderful way to just tune out and enjoy my crafty time.  The flowers were colored with Copic markers with a little Stickles added to the center and then scattered for some shine.  I chose to color them red and green for that traditional Christmas feel but I tell you these Grace's Little Note flowers would work well in any color for any occasion . The sentiments were added, one die cut the other heat embossed.  Here ...

Grateful...

Doesn't looking at this just put you in the holiday spirit?  I love mood boards because they are so full of color and texture and wonderful shapes.  They also can stir emotions and feelings that really get those creative juices going.   It's Brenda here today and this is my card and a bit about the creative process that brought it about - Often times my cards are technique driven.  When I saw the wonderful fall colors on the paint chips it made me think of a brayer technique I saw awhile back that I have wanted to try.  I already knew one of the beautiful script words from You Inspire Me would be my center piece. I gathered ink pads from various companies to match the colors in the paint chip.  I used my Spellbinders Tool-in-One with the brayer tip and started laying down the colors.  In keeping with the season of thankfulness,  I heat embossed Grateful with gold embossing powder.  When I saw the door wreath, the c...

Inspired by Sunflowers

Hi friends!  It's Brenda here with my first post as a KGD designer.  What do you think of the gorgeous mood board we've been sharing with you?  I love the cool, crisp weather and the beautiful show that nature puts on during this season. Though my home is in Hawaii now, I grew up in Kansas and had to take the sunflower and the gorgeous colors as my inspiration.  I used Beautiful Blooms - Sunflower  for my feature image.  I stamped the image on watercolor paper with my MISTI using Smokey Grey VersaFine ink and the heat embossed it with clear powder.    I used Koi watercolors to color the image and ended up fussy cutting them both.  The lovely sentiment is from the set, it was stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa.  I stamped the sentiment on a panel with distress ink on the edges.  I added a few sequins, from the Autumn Blessings mix which you may have noticed in the new release.   I'm hoping you will find some insp...
