Split Images - February Mood Board

Hello Kennedy Grace Family! It's Donna here, and we've been sweltering here in Southern Australia. So what a delight it is to have such a beautiful cool mood board to work with. I've chosen the flags as my inspiration and have tried to recreate some of the look of them on my card. I cut several tags using a die in my stash, then laid them on a piece of scrap paper, attaching them with repositional adhesive with just the same spacing as I wanted on the card. I placed this in my MISTI stamping tool and stamped the gorgeous rose image from the Just a Rose stamp set across the tags in clear ink. I then heat embossed in white. I placed a mask over this rose and the stamped one of the images from Grace's Little Note  in two different places and heat embossed it as before. The sentiment comes from the same stamp set. Once the stamping was done, I moved the banners to my card base, and attached them with foam tape. The final touch? Sequins of course! I picked these ...

October Mood board with Erica

Hello! Erica on the blog today with my take of our October Mood board. It's full of fun colours and textures but I immediately knew I wanted to use these new Cathrine Pooler inks a friend sent me recently. It was like a stroke of fate, the colours my friend sent perfectly matched the mood board! It just had to be done. I started my placing the big 'kindess' stamp from  Kindness Medley  in my MISTI and then I got to work with my inks. These inks are so juicy and stamp incredibly well, I am so impressed! Saying that, I do prefer to use my MISTI whenever I stamp up anything, just in case the lines aren't as solid as I'd like or the colour doesn't cover the image very well. It is definitely one of my absolute must-haves. Anyway, after stamping away for a while I had a nice and bright panel which I used as my background. To incorporate some of the other colours on the mood board I decided to cut out the panel with a scalloped die so i...

I'm back!

Hello! Erica back on the blog today after a few weeks hiatus due to a house move. Nothing as dramatic as a hurricane thank goodness for me, but still very disruptive. I hope everyone affected by hurricanes, storms and floods are getting things sorted with cleanups, insurance claims and rebuilding. I've not had much luck getting my craft room sorted after the move but I managed to make a card and write this blog post, which feels like a major win. It's only been 2 weeks since we moved in after all. Right, well, seeing as I still have stuff all over the place I should try keeping this short and sweet so I can keep organising the house. I started out with stamping the  Splendid Roses  on Copic friendly card stock and coloured that with bright pinks and fuchsia markers. I must admit this is not my finest colouring job but it sure is bright! Once I was done colouring it, I fussy cut the image out and set it aside. For my background, I used a Hero Arts stencil and some...

Super quick birthday card

Hi guys! My theme this month has been quick and easy, cards that take very little time (as I have very little this month, gearing up to move house and country!) Right, are you ready?? This is another "buckle up coz it's gonna be fast"card: Step 1: grab coloured card stock. I went with bright and cheerful yellow. Fold into card size you want. Step 2: run through die cutting machine with a scalloped frame die, just off the top of the card so it doesn't chop it in half. Step 3: Stamp one of the gorgeous flower stamps from Kennedy Grace Creations  in the middle. I went with  Beautiful Bloom-Sweet Rose  and stamped it in black to make the contrast as big as possible. Step 4: Die cut a frame of black (or other colour if you fancy it) card stock and add around the flower to frame it prettily. Step 5: Add sentiment. I used a die cut word and stamped another one to make it say 'Happy Birthday'. Again, I used black to keep it simple but elegant. Step 6: Add...

Distress Oxide fun

Hi, hi, hello! Erica on the blog with another super simple, but rather eye-catching, card. Recently I got the second lot of Distress Oxide inks and ooooh, that Picked Raspberry... L-O-V-E!! Well, I simply had to use it on several projects right away because #lovepink, am I right? Getting a piece of smooth water colour card stock out, as well as arming myself with Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet and Fossilized Amber in the Distress Oxide inks too because options. Right-o, I basically went to town with blending and adding colour as I wanted the background really, REALLY vivid. Once I was happy it was colourful enough, I spritzed some water drops on it and lifted that off with a piece of kitchen roll. To hurry up the drying process, I used my heat gun on it until it was bone dry so I could run it through my Big Shot with a stitched die. Then it was time to add images and sentiments. As my plan was to heat emboss the image in white on vellum I picked the one I think makes the bigges...

Heartfelt Thanks with Erica

Hello, Erica back on the blog today. I've swapped a day with poor Rachel who has done her back in but she's going to cover one of my dates while I'm moving house at the end of the month and beginning of next. A Thank You card seemed appropriate for today's post with that in mind. I stamped up the lovely bloom from  Just A Rose  and coloured it in with my Copic markers. I wanted a light and bright look so I used a flicking motion and left plenty of white space on the petals. The leaves I did in a similar manner but the stamens in the middle got a dark pink colour. I fussy cut the flower out and added foam tape to the back of it while I was in a cutting frenzy. Once that was done I set it aside and started on the background. Grabbing my new Distress Oxide inks I blended some green shades all over a card panel. My first idea was to stamp up some leaves on it and make it look like a rose bush on which the flower would sit. I decided on trying something new inste...

Purple Hello card

Hello there! Erica here with my last blog post for July. Today I'm steering away from both birthday and thank you cards if you can believe it..! Yep, today's card is a simple 'hello' one. With some water coloured flowers of course. Because why not? I didn't really have a design in mind when I started this card, I just wanted to do some colouring and have some me-time. Right now, we have hydrangeas blooming all around our neighbourhood and one of my favourite colours is the one that is blue/purple. I love that deep, intense colour and tried replicating that on my flowers here. Sure, it's not a hydrangea stamp but just work with me for a minute ;-) I picked out one of the little flower stems in the  Grace's Happy Heart  and heat embossed it in white in a pattern on my water colour card stock. I stamped it in such a way that I didn't need a mask as it doesn't overlap anywhere. Usually when I colour with my Zig markers, I use them directly on t...

A bright Thank You note

Hello everyone and hello July! Yikes, who else is in total disbelief that we are over halfway through 2017 already?? Come on now, show of hands, I can't be the only one surely? This month I'm going to focus on Thank You notes as we will be moving next month and I want to make sure I say a proper thank you to everyone that already has and those who will be giving us a hand with various tasks as well as have made our time in Denmark lovely. One of my favourite flowers are dark pink peonies and I used these as a colour reference when I did the colouring for this card, even though the stamp itself if technically a rose. Just bear with me on this. As I planned on using my Zig markers again I got my Strathmore Bristol Vellum water colour card stock out and cut a smallish rectangle using a die from Avery Elle which has a cute stitched pattern around the edges. I dusted it generously with my anti-static tool and then stamped the  Just a Rose  on the left side in VersaMark ink ...

Friendship card

Hi guys! Erica here with my last post for June. Honestly, where is this year going?? I'm scrambling to remember the date with the days just whizzing by...! As I mentioned in my first post for June, I have a friend who's going through a bit of a hard time and I made this card with her in mind again. She lives on the other side of the world from me and sending cards and little presents is our way of staying connected the old-fashioned way. Chatting via Skype or Messenger is fab as it makes the distance between us feel shorter but we both enjoy sending little surprises to each other to brighten the other's day. She is one of my biggest card fans too so that helps! She loves yellow so I decided to make a simple but bright card for her today. This month I have kept my focus on the Splendid Roses  stamp set and ALL my cards are made using this stamp, this one is no exception. I do like showing different techniques and looks you can get from one single stamp set which is a...

Splendid Roses birthday card

Hello, hello! Erica back on the blog today with a card you might recognise a little bit. If you don't, check out my last couple of cards over here on  this blog post  and you will see how one stamped panel has now ended up being three different cards. This card is basically the coloured version of those two cards. If you don't have time to check out my last post I stamped up lots of  Splendid Roses  on a slightly larger than an A2 panel and then I foiled it as well as used the negative piece for a second card. As I had a big stamped panel ready to go, I decided to colour it in using my Zig markers. To make it really colourful, I used a different colour for each one of the flowers. It's only the small buds that are the same colour. Oh and the leaves too. I managed to smudge the colours a little bit in the space between the flowers and leaves so I thought I'd colour that too to make the coloured blooms really pop. At first I toyed with the idea of startin...

Foiling frenzy!

Hello, Erica on the blog today with my first post for June. I have two cards for you today too! A friend of mine is going through some tough stuff at the moment and I wanted to make a couple of encouraging cards to send to her to let her know I'm always here for her, no matter how far away I am in actual distance. I decided to make a big background using the  Splendid Roses  stamp set and all my pre-cut masks came in so handy for this. My panel was slightly larger than an A2 size and I used my MISTI to make sure the stamped images were nice and solid as I planned to scan it, print if off and then foil it using my Minc machine. Once I was happy with the pattern I did just that and chose Pink Minc foil on it. The negative was so pretty I decided to keep that and use it on another card (this is how the second card in this post came to be.) The foiled piece I die cut using a Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die and then again in foam to add some height to it. When it came...

Handmade Rainbow Love You Card with Heat Embossing & Sparkle

Hello cardmaking friends! Today I have a glittery and sparkly, rainbow, handmade love you card for you! To create this bold, shiny and colorful card I used three Kennedy Grace Creations clear stamp sets; Beautiful Blooms - Sweet Rose, Just a Rose and Splendid Rose. To begin I used my regular sized MISTI (most incredible stamping tool invented) by My Sweet Petunia. I placed a piece of 4.25"x5.5" Canson XL 140lb. watercolor cardstock right in the middle of the MISTI. I arranged a variety of roses from all three stamp sets and stamped them with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink. The images were then heat embossed with Hero Arts clear fine detail embossing powder. After making sure all the images were heat embossed thoroughly, I used my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Brush Pens to color a rainbow on the background. I left the roses white, uncolored.  I then used one of the Kennedy Grace Creations Stacked Stitched Rectangle dies and cut a rectangle from the center of the ...

Pop of colour

Hello! Erica on the blog today with my last card for April. Honestly, time is just whooshing past, or is that just me?? Today I thought I'd try something that I find quite hard when it comes to card making and that's monochrome. Yep, black and white. This is my Everest in card making and colouring. I'm usually all about colours, colours, colours!! Especially with the stamps from  Kennedy Grace Creations  as it's mostly flowers. Well, not one to shirk away from a challenge (even one self-imposed) I had one idea that I pretty much scrapped right away. Mostly because I stamped a flower in the wrong spot on the second stamp so it went into the 'I might look at that later and see what happens' pile. Moving on, as my idea evolved from the mishap, I cut up a square measuring 5"x5" in white card stock. Then I covered the middle with a circle I cut out of masking film. This was more as a guide than anything else though. Once I was ready to start stamping ...

Spring birthday card

Hello, hello, hello! Erica on the blog today, how are we all doing? Excited about Easter and having a few days off? We don't really do anything special for Easter in our house apart from having some chocolate Easter eggs and I do decorate a little bit. The decorating is more for a spring-y feel as I adore spring with all the flowers that pop up, buds on all the bushes and trees, warmer and longer days. It all makes me happy. Today's card is yellow and green, which are in my mind typical spring colours. I started out by stamping the  Beautiful Bloom-Sweet Rose  flower stamp on Strathmore Bristol Vellum water colour paper, I heat embossed it in white as my plan was to use my Derwent Inktense pencils for the colouring. I have neglected these watercolour pencils for a while and thought it would be nice to change things up a little from the Zig markers and Gansai Tambi watercolours I have used a lot recently. I started with the leaves and with a water colour brush dropped g...

Pink flowers and gingham card

Hi everyone! What did I tell you about my next card being pink in my last blog post? Would anyone be shocked that this card is in fact pink? And very pink at that! No? No, I didn't think so, lol! Well, I went for the  Splendid Roses  again but just a single bunch this time and I used Zig markers instead of Copics. Blending together 2 different shades of markers for each flower and bud I made them all look slightly different but still pink to keep it cohesive. The leaves got coloured using a single green marker but lots of water and swish-swooshing to create some texture and different vibrancy. A light blue shade was added around the bunch of flowers as I seem unable to leave too much white on a card. Something to work on perhaps. When the colouring was done and dry, I trimmed the panel until it was quite slim. This I adhered to a pink gingham card stock with foam to raise it up a little bit and finally added that to a pink card base. This card is slimmer than my usua...

CAS Black and White Shimmer Sweet Rose Birthday Card

Hello crafty friends! Meg here with a quick and simple, elegant birthday card using the Beautiful Blooms - Sweet Rose Card. This handmade card has to be the easiest and quickest I have ever posted. To start, I cut the largest Scalloped Stacked Stitched Rectangle die from black cardstock. I then used the Beautiful Blooms - Sweet Rose clear stamps and stamped the happy birthday sentiment, and 3 roses randomly across the black panel. To finish it off, I colored each rose using the Spectrum Noir, clear shimmer, Sparkle Brush Pen. I added some black fun foam to the backside of the panel, and adhered it to a white, top-folding card base. Done!! Hope you like this easy heat embossing, Sweet Rose card! Believe in your strength, Copic coloring with Grace's Little Notes

Hello cardmaking friends. First off, thank you so much for visiting my blogpost! Today I made a clean and simple floral card with lots of masking and Copic Markers. To begin, I stamped one of the small floral images from the Grace's Little Notes clear stamp set. I then stamped it 3 other times on masking paper and fussy cut them out. I continued stamping, masking each image as I went, until I achieved a bundle of flowers in the lower right hand corner of my card panel. Once the staping was complete, I die-cut the entire panel with the largest of the Stacked Stitched Rectangle Dies. I then used the You Inspire Me stamp set and stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Onyx blaxk ink. The sentiment reads 'Believe in your strength.'  I added clear embossing powder to it and heat set until a smooth, shiny, raised finish occured.  Then it was time for the fun part (for me anyways).... coloring!!! I pulled out my Copic markers and decided I wanted to go with pink fl...

Clean and Simple Stamping and Copic Coloring with Splendid Rose

Hello cardmaking friends. Meg here, with a super quick and easy, clean and simple yet elegant, coral colores rose card. Perfect for any friend. To create this card I used the Scalloped Stacked Stitched Rectangle dies, Splendid Rose clear stamp set and Rainbow Sherbert Sequins. First, I cut the largest scalloped rectangle from Cryogen white, iridescent sparkle cardstock. This specialty cardstock had a gorgeous, subtle shimmer which is much more evident in real life versus in photographs. This is my preferred cardstock for coloring with Copic Markers. I stamped the gorgeous rose and friend sentiment, both from the Splendid Rose stamp set, using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. This hybrid ink is Copic friendly. I then quickly colored the rose using 3 different YR Copic Marker colors; YR61, YR02 and YR65.  I wanted to achieve a coral colored rose....however, it came out a little more orange than I expected. I love how it turned out, although it wasn't exactly what I ...
