Something a bit different

Hello, hello!

Erica on the blog today with my second card of 2017. Boy, does time fly.. I can't believe it's the 15th of January already! Yikes. It's not just me, is it? Where is the time going? I can't quite keep up at times, it feels like. And I'm not even overly busy to be perfectly honest but still it seems like the days just poof by.

With that in mind, I'm going to keep it relatively short today. Short for me anyway, lol! I know I usually jibber-jabber away about all aspects of the card of the day but today, I don't really see how I can drag it out too much. It really is a super simple card!

My (current) favorite colour combination is navy and gold. I can't quite put my finger on why I love it so much but it just works in my mind. My original idea was to have a cutout saying 'thanks' but I made the navy panel too small and I had already heatembossed the lovely Just A Rose in gold embossing powder on it by the time I realised this. So a quick rethink and 'hugs' ended up being the backup plan.

The word 'hugs' is a creative cut from Winnie & Walter, I love this font and the robustness of the words cut out. I cut it out twice, once in white linen textured card stock and once in vellum. These two pieces I layered on top of each other so that the vellum created a 'shadow' to the linen one. On the back of the piece I added foam tape to raise it up a bit from the navy panel.

Before I added the cutout, I wrapped some gold twine around the navy panel just to the left of the heatembossed rose and tied a little bow. Once the bow was arranged and securely tied, I added the 'hugs'. As usual, I can't seem to leave a card without enamel accents or sequins, so I sprinkled a few sequins from the Moon Beams sequin mix.

The navy panel was then adhered to a card base also in the linen card stock to keep everything matching.

And that, my friends, was it! How easy and quick was that??

Happy crafting from Erica

Heartfelt Thanks

Hello everyone!! It's Berina here today with a Thank you card for you.

This looks like a triple stamping, but I used only 1 panel of colored images. I'll walk you through the steps. I took a piece of white cardstock of size 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and stamped the sentiment from the Friendship Blessings stamp set in the center and stamped the flowers repeatedly around the sentiment. I colored the images with Copic markers. With a T-ruler and pencil, I drew rectangles where I wanted to cut and used my paper trimmer to cut. I did the same with a black cardstock panel of size 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and used it to matte all the pieces of image panel. Then I adhered the 3 pieces adhered on to each other with foam tape to give some dimension. I added some Nuvo drops in color English Mustard.

I really love how this has turned out. I hope you will give it a try.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day.

Sweet Birthday

Hello everyone! First of all, wishing you all a very happy new year! It's Berina here today, sharing a beautiful and sweet card using the tic tac toe board for January!

I used the diagonal from the board - Die Cut, Embossing and Flowers. I decided to use the Splendid Roses for the flowers. I stamped the floral image using Memento black ink and colored the flowers with Copic markers. I used V09, V17, V15 and V12 for the flowers and G99, YG67, YG63, YG61 and YG03 for the leaves. I loved coloring these flowers. I cut the panel into 4" x 5 1/4". For the sentiment, I decided to go with the "Wishing you a sweet birthday" from the same stamp set. I gold embossed the sentiment and die cut it with a small oval. I colored the edges of the die cut with V15. I took a top folding A2 cardbase and colored the edges of the front with V15. I adhered the image panel on to the card base with glue and attached the sentiment panel with foam tape. I love how this card has turned ou…
