Something a bit different

Hello, hello!

Erica on the blog today with my second card of 2017. Boy, does time fly.. I can't believe it's the 15th of January already! Yikes. It's not just me, is it? Where is the time going? I can't quite keep up at times, it feels like. And I'm not even overly busy to be perfectly honest but still it seems like the days just poof by.

With that in mind, I'm going to keep it relatively short today. Short for me anyway, lol! I know I usually jibber-jabber away about all aspects of the card of the day but today, I don't really see how I can drag it out too much. It really is a super simple card!

My (current) favorite colour combination is navy and gold. I can't quite put my finger on why I love it so much but it just works in my mind. My original idea was to have a cutout saying 'thanks' but I made the navy panel too small and I had already heatembossed the lovely Just A Rose in gold embossing powder on it by the time I realised this. So a quick rethink and 'hugs' ended up being the backup plan.

The word 'hugs' is a creative cut from Winnie & Walter, I love this font and the robustness of the words cut out. I cut it out twice, once in white linen textured card stock and once in vellum. These two pieces I layered on top of each other so that the vellum created a 'shadow' to the linen one. On the back of the piece I added foam tape to raise it up a bit from the navy panel.

Before I added the cutout, I wrapped some gold twine around the navy panel just to the left of the heatembossed rose and tied a little bow. Once the bow was arranged and securely tied, I added the 'hugs'. As usual, I can't seem to leave a card without enamel accents or sequins, so I sprinkled a few sequins from the Moon Beams sequin mix.

The navy panel was then adhered to a card base also in the linen card stock to keep everything matching.

And that, my friends, was it! How easy and quick was that??

Happy crafting from Erica

It's Heidi on the blog today

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well!  Today I have my third and last guest design post for you all.  For this fun and colorful card I stamped one of the pretty flowers from the “Grace’s Little Note” stamp set from Kennedy Grace Creations with Memento’s “Rich Cocoa” ink on Copic friendly paper. After coloring all of the flowers with my Copic Markers I used a black Copic Multiliner 0.3 on the hearts of the flowers and created some white lines on the flowers and the leaves to make them more interesting to look at, using a white Gelly Roll pen.   The background was created very easily by stamping one of the sentiments from the “Grace’s Little Note’s” stamp set repeatedly on some crème coloured linen textured card stock. The same sentiment was used on the vellum part with black ink. If you would like to know more about how I made this card and what exact colours I used then you can go over to my website for more details: http://www. mak...
