Hello, Erica on the blog today, May 25th, which also happens to be my Mamma's birthday! So happy birthday to Mamma!!
She's been here visiting since last Friday and is here for another week so I've not been on top of my blogging game *insert shame filled face here* and today is no different BUT I thought I could turn it into a challenge: make a presentable card, from idea to finished product, in the least amount of time. I'm not neglecting my Mamma though, she's having a lie-down after a little celebratory lunch with a few friends. Yet another reason to try and make this card, photograph the card and write the blog post in the least amount of time as to not spend too much time away from her.
With that in mind, I grabbed my iPhone and started the stop clock. Then it was time to scramble the brain and get something going! Looking through my stamp sets I went, not totally unsurprisingly, with the Beautiful Bloom-Sweet Rose. It is one of my faves after all. On an A2 piece of water colour card stock I stamped it with VersaMark ink after I had dusted the panel with anti-static powder. I decided on white embossing powder and Gansai Tambi water colours, rather than Zig markers.
I coloured the flower very loosely with a soft pink and added yellow in the middle of them. Around the flowers I used a lovely light green and added that like a soft cloud all around it, a little bit more on the leaves and lighter in between. To speed up the drying I used my heat tool to set the colours.
As it's Mamma's birthday it kind of had to be a birthday card so I grabbed one of my favourite Neat&Tangled stamp sets called Celebrate, which has a matching die too. I use these a lot for birthday cards. The actual word 'celebrate' I die cut out of gold glitter card stock and I also cut out the background shape but in vellum. To keep with the colour scheme I heat embossed the rest of the sentiment 'Let's' and 'It's your birthday' in gold before adhering the 'Celebrate' piece in the middle.
I managed to smudge a little bit of ink on the top of the panel and unfortunately it was in a spot where I couldn't just trim it off. I tried but couldn't get it all off. After adhering the water colour panel to a yellow card base I decided to finish off the card with a few yellow sequins, from the Sunshine On The Daisies mix, and one of these is covering up the boo-boo.
From start to finish, this card took less than 28 minutes and that's with some distractions both from Mamma and The Man. Not too shabby, is it?? In the photo I've also included some of the other supplies I've used to make this card.
Finally, here is a better photo of the card in question:
That's it from me for today, I hope you have enjoyed my little challenge and the card that resulted from it.
Happy rest of May and see you in June!
Erica
