Sympathy Roses

Hello, everyone, Rachel here today. It kinda stinks, but I had to start out my new year with a sympathy card. It's a part of life, I suppose, but it's definitely not fun. I wanted something simple, but striking, so I used my very favorite Splendid Roses stamp set and came up with this.

I know, the sentiment's a little crooked, but I think it gives it character, so I left it. Besides, I really didn't want to do all that coloring again!

I started by stamping the roses to cover my panel and then used my Copics to color them all. When coloring white, I use my Warm Grays to color the roses and then used my Cool Grays to create a halo around them. It really helps to make the images pop out from the white cardstock. I wanted to keep the colors muted, so I used some dark Yellow Greens for my greenery. I cut a circle from the panel and removed it before adhering the panel to a card base. I used the same die to cut a circle from white cardstock and heat embossed my sentiment in gold embossing powder.

Now here's where I screwed up. I used foam tape to adhere my new circle into the circle that I had removed. I should have just removed a little backing before adhering it so I could line it up well, but I removed it all and just plopped it down. Oops! I'm sure the recipient won't care that the sentiment is a little wonky. After all, it's the thought that counts, right?

Thanks for joining me today!

  1. Absolutely gorgeous sympathy card, Rachel! I love how you created shadows on the roses and I think your sentiment is perfect...no worries about that, for sure!

One Layered Card - Featuring Kennedy Grace Creations: Time To Blossom

Hey folks! I'm back to share a card from the Kennedy Grace Creations New Release! The stamp set I used today is the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . I really enjoyed the simplicity of this set. You could totally heat emboss this and do some fabulous watercoloring, but Copic's seems to be the way to go for me lately so that's what I did. I started by stamping the image twice on my card panel. The only masking I did was a tiny bit on the stem. The name of the game was to keep this super simple folks. As I said, I colored the images with Copic's. Another thing I enjoy about the Time To Blossom Stamp Set is that you could choose any colors you wanted. I chose red-violets and yellow-greens, but seriously peeps, whatever floats your boat and it will looks great! To finish off my card, I used a added a couple of hand drawn lines to the background and I stamped a portion of a stamp that is also in the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . That's it! Easy peasy. T
